Doug & Mike Starn on the Roof: Big Bambú

27-02-2010 / 31-10-2010 - New York Metropolitan Museum

Invited by The Metropolitan Museum of Art to create a site-specific installation, the twin brothers, Mike and Doug Starn, have created a growing and changing sculpture which will continue to be constructed throughout the duration of the exhibition. The monumental bamboo structure (entitled Big Bambú: You Can’t, You Don’t, and You Won’t Stop), takes the form of a cresting wave that bridges realms of sculpture, architecture, and performance. The evolving state of the work is being documented by the artists in photographs and videos.
